The child support enforcement system is built on a series of partnerships among Federal, State, and local governments. The Clinton County Domestic Relations Section is a branch of the Court of Common Pleas of Clinton County that primarily processes child support and spousal support matters.

The basic child support enforcement services provided by the agency are:

Locating noncustodial parents
Establishing paternity
Establishing and enforcing child, spousal, and medical support orders
Collecting support monies
Modifying support orders

The agency also collects monies in alimony cases when ordered by the court. Problems such as custody, visitation, and property settlement are not support enforcement issues. Clinton County Domestic Relations cannot extend its services to enforce court orders pertaining to them.

Any dependent spouse or custodian of a child may apply for support at the Domestic Relations offices on the 2nd floor of the Garden Building. All families may obtain support services at little or no cost. Families that are receiving public assistance must cooperate with the child support agency to establish paternity and collect child support.
