David A. Strouse has served as the District Attorney of Clinton County since January 2, 2016. Prior to his election, Dave maintained a private law practice in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, for eight years, practicing primarily in the area of criminal defense. He also served as a Public Defender for Clinton County for more than seven years. In 2016, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf appointed Dave to serve as the only District Attorney on the Pennsylvania Commission on Sentencing. Dave was re-appointed by the Governor in 2018.
Dave serves on the Board of Directors for the Pennsylvania District Attorney's Institute, and is a member of the Pennsylvania District Attorney’s Association, as well as the Clinton County Bar Association. He is an active member of various Clinton County organizations including: the Criminal Justice Advisory Board, the Victim/Witness Policy Board, the Sexual Assault Response Team, the STOP Violence Against Women Grant Coordinating Team, the Multidisciplinary Investigative Team, and the Child Death Review Team. Dave is also a member of the Clinton County Treatment Court Committee and Veterans Court Committee and he is a member of the Clinton County Advocates for a Drug Free Tomorrow.
Dave volunteers his time as a member of the Lock Haven Kiwanis, as a member of the #KeystoneCares Committee, and also coaches Little League Baseball in Mill Hall.
Dave graduated from Penn State University Altoona College with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and was a member of the baseball team. He graduated from the Villanova University School of Law.
Dave and his wife, Sara, and three sons, Cooper, Logan, and Andrew live in Lamar Township, Pennsylvania.
